Saath in one line: Saath is an educational legal companion that helps people in
India understand and navigate their legal journey in plain language. Saath provides
educational guidance, not legal advice, and is not a substitute for a qualified lawyer.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Saath mobile application ("Saath", "the app",
"we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Saath, you agree to the
practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
Account details — when you sign up, we collect your name, phone number and/or
email address so we can create and secure your account.
Case information — details you enter about your legal matter (such as case type,
stage, notes and reminders) so the app can guide you.
Documents you scan or upload — when you use the document decoder, the photo or
file you provide, and the text extracted from it, are processed to generate a plain-language
explanation.
Information collected automatically
Location — with your permission, your approximate or precise location is used to
find nearby legal aid offices, One Stop Centres, or courthouses. Location is used only when you ask
for it and is not tracked in the background.
Device & usage information — basic technical data (device type, app version,
and error logs) needed to keep the app working and to fix problems.
Device permissions we request
Camera — to scan and decode legal documents.
Photos / files — so you can choose an existing document to decode.
Location — to find the nearest legal help.
Microphone — for voice input, where offered.
Notifications — to remind you about hearing dates, deadlines and tasks.
You can grant or deny each permission, and change it later in your phone's settings. Denying a
permission only disables the related feature.
2. How we use your information
To create your account and keep it secure.
To provide the app's features — guidance, document decoding, reminders and finding legal help.
To personalise the journey and checklists to your case.
To fix bugs, prevent misuse, and improve the app.
To comply with legal obligations that apply to us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party
advertising.
3. Automated / AI processing
To explain documents and generate guidance, the text from documents you submit may be processed by
automated systems, including AI language models operated by us or by trusted service providers acting
on our behalf. These explanations are for understanding only and are not legal advice. Please avoid
submitting information you do not wish to be processed for this purpose.
4. How your information is stored and shared
On your device: much of your case and document data is stored locally on your
phone.
Our backend: account and synced data are stored using our hosting and database
provider, Supabase, which processes data on our behalf under its own security
and privacy terms.
Service providers: we share information only with providers who help us run the
app (such as hosting, database and AI processing), and only as needed to deliver the service.
Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the
rights and safety of users and the public.
5. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — including encrypted connections and
secure storage for sensitive values — to protect your information. No method of transmission or
storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
You may delete your data or ask us to delete it (see "Your rights"). Some information may be retained
where required to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.
7. Your rights and choices
Access the personal information associated with your account.
Correct inaccurate information.

8. Children's privacy

personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact
us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated"
date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
